This Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars play host to the New York Jets. Jaguars are coming off a tremendous road victory in Cincinnati. The Jets were humiliated by New England 33-0.
Gardner Minshew and the offense need to build off the successful running game behind Leonard Fournette. He ran the ball 29 times for 131 yards. Perhaps, the Jaguars will approach their goal-line play calling.
The Jaguars have opened up the aerial assault through the wide receiving corps. D.J. Chark is emerging as the number one receiver. Dede Westbrook is still a top target in crossing routes but Minshew needs a reliable tight end.
The injury to James O’Shaughnessy left a huge void in the passing game. Hopefully, Josh Oliver will be able to fill the void. It would not be a huge surprise if the Jaguars make a deal for a veteran tight end before the October 29th trade deadline.
Expect the Jaguars’ defense to pressure the Jets Sam Darnold relentlessly. In Cincinnati, the Jaguars defense forced four turnovers. Yannick Ngakoue got a pick-six touchdown with a major assist from the pass rush. By the way, New England forced six Jets turnovers.
Last year, the Jaguars defeated the Jets 31-12. They followed that victory with seven consecutive losses. Let’s hope that history does not repeat itself!
Jacksonville has the talent to win this game but must play hard each down. They have to stop committing personal fouls. Let’s see how it plays out
