The Jacksonville Jaguars offensive line has hardly ever controlled the line of scrimmage in recent memory. This weekend’s matchup features a dynamic pass rusher in Von Miller. All signs point to Miller running wild, over and through Jawaan Taylor.
The Denver Broncos pass-rushing linebacker recorded two sacks last week against the New York Giants. In his career, Miller has notched 108 sacks since his rookie season of 2011. He did not play last season due to an ankle injury.
Taylor will have to play his career-best on Sunday. He might get help from a running back or James O’Shaughnessy to help corral, Miller. Remember, Miller has the potential to disrupt the quiet mind of Trevor Lawrence.
Interceptions ruined the debut of Lawrence in Houston. His three picks contributed to the Jaguars awful performance in Houston. Lawrence needs to have the opportunity to run the offense without running away from the pass rush in every passing situation.
Pro Football Focus (PFF) ranked the Jaguars offensive line as the 23rd ranked NFL line. Games are controlled by the team that wins the battles up front. Expect a ferocious attack from the Broncos.
The other pass rusher for Denver, Bradley Chubb, is not expected to play on Sunday. He and Miller combined would wreak havoc on both Jaguars tackles Taylor and Cam Robinson. Jacksonville would have to get creative with their blocking scheme if Chubb was playing.
Expect the Jaguars to neutralize Miller with screens and quick passes. They will run James Robinson and Carlos Hyde away from him. Miller is too good to assume Taylor can handle him one-on-one.
