Today, the Jacksonville Jaguars had the opportunity to win on the road in Tennessee. They fell short but were not humiliated by the Tennessee Titans running game. Ryan Tannehill passed the Titans to victory 33-30.
Most Jaguars fans knew that keeping Derrick Henry in check, would very important in the defensive game plan. However, Tannehill picked the Jaguars apart at the most critical times. He completed 18 of 24 passes for 239 yards with four touchdowns.
Tennessee led 24-10 at half time. They were aided by an unnecessary squib kick that went awry. Most little league football coaches would prefer the opposing offense to start deep in their end of the field. Unsure whether Josh Lambo tried to make a play on the kickoff or missed on his squib kick.
Gardner Minshew pulled things together in the second half. Minshew’s magic was on display in Tennessee. He completed 30 passes for 339 yards with three touchdowns but threw two interceptions. They were costly interceptions. The final pick ended the Jaguars’ chances for another come from behind victory.
Jacksonville has to put this loss behind them and get ready for Miami on Thursday. Miami lost a close game to Buffalo 31-28. They will be hungry for their first win of the season.
