The Jacksonville Jaguars hire Urban Meyer to rebuild the team

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan introduced Urban Meyer as the new head coach. Meyer is the obvious flashy choice to ignite ticket sales and excitement from the fans. Word is that Trent Baalke will remain on staff to become the full-time general manager.

In a move reminiscent of the Dallas Cowboys hire of Jimmy Johnson back in the late 1980s, Khan is hoping Meyer will be able to take the reigns and rebuild the Jaguars. Baalke helped assemble the San Francisco 49ers into a playoff contender.

Meyer is currently hiring his coaching staff before the courting unrestricted free agents and the NFL Draft. The free-agent signings and draft will go according to the Meyers philosophy. It’s no secret that Trevor Lawrence will be the first selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Pro Football Focus (PFF) graded the upcoming free agents. If the Jaguars are upgrading the offensive line, especially at tackle, Trent Williams and Taylor Moton graded as the top free-agent tackles. Brandon Scherff and Joe Thuney were graded as the top guards. Do not count out the possibility that Cam Robinson and Jawaan Taylor could get moved to either guard or center.

Stay tuned to see how things play out. Be sure to catch the current JJC podcast where Andre Moultry accurately discusses the Jaguars situation in each podcast episode.
